I do sometimes reflect on how little I can remember of a Sunday sermon.
In some ways it’s a watermark I use to “grade” the pastor…If it can’t be remembered on Monday or Tuesday let alone next week it wasn’t effective….or I wasn’t listening.
Maybe the model is:
Holy Spirit —> Opens the word of God (The Bible) —> to the pastor’s eyes and ears
Pastor filled with the Holy Spirit uses gifts of the Holy Spirit –> to create a message for the church
Holy Spirit gives ears to hear to the congregation and quickens their heart and mind to hear, understand, remember and apply the message.
This could probably be better said in other words, but I think I agree that note taking isn’t part of the process….somehow I have the impression that the twelve didn’t walk around with iPad’s.
