Westminster Larger Catechism Study

Faith or Works?

This seems to be a relevant question. Or is it Faith and Works? Mike Ratliff brings that to our attention in this post. I commented that the Zoom Bible Study I’m in is studying James and we are just now in chapter two. I plan on making a series of posts from the verses Mike references in preparation for that Study. We have already read…..

James 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

Paul said the same thing to Timothy:

2 Timothy 3:15-17 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Our Presbyterian Church does not teach the historical documents: The Confessions and Catechisms nor the Three Forms of Unity. But Pastor Ganger has an excellent evening series where he does at the Reformed Church. Currently he is covering the Westminster Shorter Catechism, and his Canons of Dort series last year is worth the time. I listen while walking or driving. Each is about 45 minutes.

Start with the earliest one at the bottom of the second page at this link….

The series continues in October 2023 through 12/17/2023 in this link. (They mislabeled the series.)
