Reversing Roles – The Pharisee and Antinomian

I’m probably breaking a rule here in reposting Michelle Lesley’s article. I’m a pretty solid Complementarian as it goes for men teaching men and women teaching women. Particularly in the church. I do think we can as men also learn valuable truths from women. As this early example clarifies:

The Resurrection

Luk 24:22  Yea, and certain women also of our company made us astonished, which were early at the sepulchre;

Luk 24:23  And when they found not his body, they came, saying, that they had also seen a vision of angels, which said that he was alive.

Luk 24:24  And certain of them which were with us went to the sepulchre, and found it even so as the women had said: but him they saw not.

I did find her discussion of the modern Pharisee and Antinomian issue quite useful. I’ve not heard it articulated quite like this anywhere else…the twist is the reversal of the roles.

Though the quality of their rules is antinomian-ish, the application of their rules is legalistic

Another way of saying that is today’s liberals have their own new law and requirements and have become Pharisee’s in making them the new sins.

So I’m praying that any women who follow my own blog or find it by chance can read this and understand it. Likewise men.

And using her definition I do see many men following after Neo-Pharisaism.
