Devotional Readings, M'Cheyne Bible Reading Notes

Sunday’s reading: A Rod, a Branch, a Rock and an Ass

I am catching up on yesterday’s reading. great chapters Listen to Max McLain read.

Here are a few parts of the text.

Isa 12:1  And in that day thou shalt say, O LORD, I will praise thee: though thou wast angry with me, thine anger is turned away, and thou comfortedst me.

Isa 12:2  Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation.

Isa 12:3  Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.

Isa 12:4  And in that day shall ye say, Praise the LORD, call upon his name, declare his doings among the people, make mention that his name is exalted.

Isa 12:5  Sing unto the LORD; for he hath done excellent things: this is known in all the earth.

Isa 12:6  Cry out and shout, thou inhabitant of Zion: for great is the Holy One of Israel in the midst of thee.

BTW: I’m reading this today May 14, an this day is the 70’s anniversary of the current state of Israel. You can read about that event here:

State of Israel: Ancient & Modern

Or in even more detail at this link: Defending the True History of Israel

Or this one: Historical Truths Behind the Israel-Palestinian Conflict

Bob also has a book which gives his full details: The Holocaust Against Israel

I might be wrong on this but from my reading today, we can trace Israel’s history back at least 3,500 years….with much the same trouble as we see today.

Numbers 22:6  Come now therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people; for they are too mighty for me: peradventure I shall prevail, that we may smite them, and that I may drive them out of the land: for I wot that he whom thou blessest is blessed, and he whom thou cursest is cursed.

But perhaps we should focus on the positive and remember.

My Soul Waits for God Alone

Psa 62:1  To the chief Musician, to Jeduthun, A Psalm of David. Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation.

Psa 62:2  He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved.

Psa 62:3  How long will ye imagine mischief against a man? ye shall be slain all of you: as a bowing wall shall ye be, and as a tottering fence.

Psa 62:4  They only consult to cast him down from his excellency: they delight in lies: they bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. Selah.

Psa 62:5  My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him.

Psa 62:6  He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved.

Psa 62:7  In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.

Psa 62:8  Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.

Psa 62:9  Surely men of low degree are vanity, and men of high degree are a lie: to be laid in the balance, they are altogether lighter than vanity.

Psa 62:10  Trust not in oppression, and become not vain in robbery: if riches increase, set not your heart upon them.

Psa 62:11  God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God.

Psa 62:12  Also unto thee, O Lord, belongeth mercy: for thou renderest to every man according to his work.

Isa 11:1  And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:

Isa 11:2  And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;
