Devotional Readings, M'Cheyne Bible Reading Notes

Family: 2 Chronicles 31; Revelation 17. Secret: Zechariah 13:2–9; John 16. (King James Version)

Great lessons.

Perhaps just listen to John 16.

John 16:1  These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended.

Joh 16:2  They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.

Joh 16:3  And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me.

Joh 16:4  But these things have I told you, that when the time shall come, ye may remember that I told you of them. And these things I said not unto you at the beginning, because I was with you.

Do recall…

Mat 5:10  Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Mat 5:11  Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

Mat 5:12  Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

Btw, I was curious about the use of this word “heaps”.

2Ch 31:6  And concerning the children of Israel and Judah, that dwelt in the cities of Judah, they also brought in the tithe of oxen and sheep, and the tithe of holy things which were consecrated unto the LORD their God, and laid them by heaps.

2Ch 31:7  In the third month they began to lay the foundation of the heaps, and finished them in the seventh month.

2Ch 31:8  And when Hezekiah and the princes came and saw the heaps, they blessed the LORD, and his people Israel.

2Ch 31:9  Then Hezekiah questioned with the priests and the Levites concerning the heaps.

Per Gill “and laid them by heaps: heaps upon heaps, such large quantities were brought in.”
