Q. 12. What are the decrees of God?
A. God’s decrees are the wise, free, and holy acts of the counsel of his will, whereby, from all eternity, he hath, for his own glory, unchangeably foreordained whatsoever comes to pass in time, especially concerning angels and men.
Having covered the revelations about God from the scriptures the Catechism moves on now to discussion God’s decrees. This is where the heart of doctrine in the Bible is forged. If you have a copy of Vos’ commentary read (page 46 in the online PDF) his comments on the underlined words and and think about the depth of these words….including the little words: all and whatsoever!
