Westminster Larger Catechism Study

Signs we are close to the time of the end

Mike’s discussion raises some serious issues. And the passages in the Bible about persecution are numerous. As for Revelation, I have not found a more complete study of that book, than what Dr. Steven Dilday has done. You can get an introduction from his translation work from Heidegger’s Bible Handbook: Revelation: Inscription, which is here: https://www.fromreformationtoreformation.com/post/heidegger-s-bible-handbook-revelation-inscription

The work comes at the conclusion of his NT Class and goes on for 4 parts, with the class lesson video and notes.

He also has two longer Revelation studies, including his current translation of Matthew Poole’s work….where his latest posting this July was Rev 9:12.

That work is now linked back to 5 years of sermons which can be found on Sermon Audio. I highly recommend these, but must advise the study is extremely detail, verse by verses, with a lot of review in each lesson. He makes excellent points in the introduction and warns that it is best to understand the details in the first 5 chapters before getting into the the rest of the book, which people often jump to in trying to interpret and apply.

The most important point is it’s a Revelation not a Hiding! So don’t ignore it.

Anyway if the Lord lingers there is time to work through it and perhaps 🤔 some years from not Dr. Dilday will finish the work. I recall even Matthew Henry never finished his own commentary on Revelation, and was added after his death.

Possessing the Treasure

4 And Jesus answered and said to them, “See to it that no one misleads you. 5 For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will mislead many. 6 You will be hearing of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not frightened, for those things must take place, but that is not yet the end. 7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and in various places there will be famines and earthquakes. 8 But all these things are merely the beginning of birth pangs. Matthew 24:3-8 (NASB)

I have been wanting to write about this…
