So true. Thanks Mike. And this angle has been worked since the beginning….. Romans 1:25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. Genesis 3:1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD… Continue reading Damaged Goods

Telling the Truth
Just finished reading these passages in our yearly Bible readings.
Mike’s article is worth reading. The Schaefer quote is a good one.

17 When Ahab saw Elijah, Ahab said to him, “Is this you, you troubler of Israel?” 18 He said, “I have not troubled Israel, but you and your father’s house have, because you have forsaken the commandments of the LORD and you have followed the Baals. 19 Now then send and gather to me all Israel at Mount Carmel, together with 450 prophets of Baal and 400 prophets of the Asherah, who eat at Jezebel’s table.” 1 Kings 18:17-19 (NASB)
There was a time when the English and American cultures were decidedly “Christian.” Those days are long gone. Whatever it is that God is doing through this, the “Remnant” of genuine believers within the visible Church must awaken and become prepared for what is coming. We cannot be complacent any longer. Why? No matter where we turn, we either encounter growing apostasy within the visible Church or…

To Contend For The Faith Delivered Once For All To The Saints
“ At their heart is a form of Christian liberalism that stands for nothing definitive. That is, it will fight to the death against those who are totally non-relativistic.”
Christianity and Liberalism by J. Gresham Machen
Still a great read for $0.99 on Kindle.
Almost a hundred years old now.

Jude 1:3 (NA28)
3 Beloved, being extremely eager to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you encouraging you to contend for the faith delivered once for all to the saints. Jude 1:3 (translated from the NA28 Greek text)
Currently there is a very large scandal concerning the new SBC President, Ed Litton. It appears that he has plagiarized many sermons from J.D. Greear whom he replaced as President. However, as investigators dug into this the “muck” became even uglier. Not only had Litton, been plagiarizing J.D. Greear’s sermons, he had not developed any of his own sermons for quite some time, but had a team of 8 other men at his church do it…

I Have Many In This City Who Are My People
Great post, I’d describe as “rightly” dividing God’s word.
Discussion about election is very clear. Hope many can read and see this. The words “all” and “everyone” are so rich in another passage from John.
Joh 6:39 And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.
Joh 6:40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day. What a great joy it is to be able to participate and spread the good news about this.

14 I am the good shepherd, and I know My own and My own know Me, 15 even as the Father knows Me and I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep. 16 I have other sheep, which are not of this fold; I must bring them also, and they will hear My voice; and they will become one flock with one shepherd. John 10:14-16 (NASB)
When those of us who came from an Arminian or Free Will background come to grips with the reality of God’s Sovereignty, it is amazing how we struggle with letting go of the responsibility to “earn” our salvation. Of course, part of that struggle is rooted in the misconception that “election” happens at salvation. Ephesians 1 makes it clear, however, that God chose His elect before the foundation of the world. An honest reading of that…
