The past few days my thoughts have turned again to which Bible Reading Plan I should use in 2023. I admit 2022 and in fact all the Covid Era has been a challenge. I do need to get back to a more disciplined approach to reading God’s Word. My current thinking 🤔 is to refocus… Continue reading Thinking about 2023

Spurgeon’s Morning and Evening
For 2022 I’m thinking about following Spurgeon’s Morning and Evening mediations. I’ve dabbled in Spurgeon but never committed to a full reflective reading. On the direct Bible reading side, it’s been a bit of a struggle keeping up with the 5 Day Bible Reading Program, but my wife and I have been faithful, listening to… Continue reading Spurgeon’s Morning and Evening
Strange Fire
Timely article Mike. Not a message we hear often today. If one searches on The Regulative Principle of Worship a number of other good articles can be found explaining this Reformed Biblical concept, summarized in both the Westminster and Belgic Confessions. Most ignore it today, and practice whatever they wish or will or feel good about. Or they focus on the pragmatic, whatever builds the largest church must be used. As for Strange Fire there was a good conference on that a few years ago, still online. And the American Gospel documentaries show many of the more extreme misdirections, the world, not just the US, follow. Just earlier this month Justin Peters did another documentary on the World of Faith churches.
But there have been warnings since the beginning:
Act 20:29 For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.
Act 20:30 Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.
Act 20:31 Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.

Leviticus 10:1-2 (NASB)
9 But you are A chosen race, A royal priesthood, A holy nation, A people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; 10 for you once were not a people, but now you are the people of God; you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. 1 Peter 2:9-10 (NASB)
Until 2004 I could not stand to read some Old Testament books such as Leviticus and Job. I…

The Necessity of Preaching Repentance
Now the link shows up…strange..You can read my. Brief comment on Mike’s site.
by Mike Ratliff
29 Being then the children of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, an image formed by the art and thought of man. 30 Therefore having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men that all people everywhere should repent, 31 because He has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the dead.” Acts 17:29-31 (NASB)
You don’t have to look very hard to find Christians who disagree with our commitment to preach the genuine gospel that the Apostles and our Saviour preached. One of the points of contention in this debate is the necessity or preaching repentance. Many who are opposed to repentance being a necessary component of salvation see it as…
