It’s interesting, I looked back and found it’s been over 5 years since I started blogging again and posting devotionals from my daily Bible reading. This post from my original site….is one of the first from this series.
Ten Lists Reading Today or this updated link from my current Word Press site. Ten Lists Reading Today
It’s only this year I have categorized my reading under the 3 chapters a day M’Cheyne Reading Notes.
Amazed that I have 1,500 posts in the devotional category and even now after just three months of the current readings 170, that’s almost 2 per day on average now.
I still affirm my purpose is just for my own journal, not so much on a personal level, but just reflections on small sections of the Bible that stand out that I choose to comment upon. I’m thinking about ways to refocus my selections, always unsuccessfully trying to keep them shorter and always desiring that some of them would be meaningful enough to be read. Perhaps someday that will happen. But I’m a long way from thousands of visits at least to the new blog. Perhaps too in a small way my writing is developing. Certainly having Word Press spelling check helps in that dimension. Doesn’t help the grammar or having autocorrect slip the wrong word in here and there though!
Going forward, I may make an attempt to focus the posts more on the spiritual high points rather than the curious verses going forward. We will see how that goes. It’s hard though. Almost each verse seems to merit a comment. I guess that’s why John Gill’s and Matthew Henry’s commentaries are so rich. Perhaps they too were not so much adding clarification but helping to just point out how each verse is so rich a gold mine in the Word of God.
Proverbs 16:16 How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!
