False Religion

Well stated Mike. There is a lot in this article. Just touching on a few things: 1) as to good works, the old WCF has a section about that, … https://www.opc.org/wcf.html#Chapter_16 which is useful to read; 2) as to fully teaching God’s word, we often miss that Jesus words in Matthew 28 end this way: Matthew 28:20  Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. We should not miss the including of: πᾶς
pas rendered “all things”, not somethings in the KJV.; 3) and finally, our pastors and elders and churches have failed to adequately fully teach God’s word by selective topical studies for sermons, repeatedly teach the same doctrines and verses that appeal to the modern culture, rather than the whole counsel of the Bible. When is the last time a church has preached through the confessions of faith or catechisms? I know of one small reformed church that makes it their practice to regularly work systematically through all those in their evening service.

God’s people have been exhorted to keep this from the beginning.
Deuteronomy 6:17  Ye shall diligently keep the commandments of the LORD your God, and his testimonies, and his statutes, which he hath commanded thee.

Jeremiah 6:16  Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.

20 Then Saul said to Samuel, “I did obey the voice of the Lord, and went on the mission on which the Lord sent me, and have brought back Agag the king of…
