Oracles and Hearing from God….

I found this post quite useful…I’m reading a book written a few years ago by Ray Yungen on the condition of the modern church that I was involved with back in the 80’s but was drawn out of.

I know many friends and family that are in the Spiritual Formation Movement still. The essence of which is using specific Mystical Methods to draw nearer to God (a good objective, but by a bad method), or even better to get specific messages from God.

If one reads the OT you have numerous examples approaching God the wrong way.

BTW…in our contemporary secular culture we see similar things, there is a famous Oracle, a woman, in the Movie series the Matrix.

Of course God is Sovereignly sovereign as Dr. S. Lewis Johnson used to say, so it is certainly possible for him speak directly to someone today. But it is amazing that so many attempt to direct themselves in these oracles through the methods of specific mystical practices….even more concerning that such a large industry of teachers and so called “Spiritual Directors” propagate these technique.
