Doctrinal Debate…..

I might say I was “called” to read this post this morning….from yesterday’s news…but really written 14 years ago when Ken Silva was still alive. But then I can’t say that since it would qualify me as a modern day prophet, a place I don’t want to have. I have read a number of Ken Silva’s post, mostly years ago. They can be helpful, but pointed.

As for the content, I found it interesting to read since I was listening the other day to:

I’m about 2/3rds of the way though the audio podcast version not the YouTube…i.e. without the video feed.

Allie, does bring up a lot of questions, but overall my impression is it’s not all that hard pressed. If one is not careful, the LDS evangelist will come across as believable….I have to finish it, to finalize my opinion, on how successful she is at presenting the different Jesus theology.

ONE SUMMARY SAYS…

Allie engages in a theological debate on Mormonism with Jacob Hansen, who runs the Thoughtful Faith YouTube channel. Hansen, who belongs to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, presents his religion as the true ecclesiastical priesthood with more similarities to Catholics or the Orthodox Church than to evangelicals. Allie and Jacob trade barbs on the Trinity, salvation, and whether humans, angels, and God are all the same species. Who is eligible for heaven? Is God all-knowing? Can believers become the gods of their own universe? Nothing is off the table in this civil yet educational discourse!

I’m also curious about Hansen’s debate with James White….and how effective that was.

Also he quotes from Heisner, the author of the “Unseen Realm”. Which several of us read.

I do run across lots of blurring the lines and effort to merge Mormonism into Christianity. And Glenn Beck’s conservative view often drive that. There does seem a lot of blurring the lines in this area. And please note the old Walter Martin Kingdom of the Cults comment, yes Mormonism was in there.

One very strange aspect of this I’ve noticed, but not read about or studied is: the current chatter about aliens, the Outer Space Ones.

As of early 2026, President Donald Trump, Representative Tim Burchett, and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer are leading government efforts to release information on UFOs/UAPs and potential alien life. Trump has ordered federal agencies to identify and release such files, prompting the White House to register new domains like alien.gov.

Key Leaders Driving Disclosure

  • President Donald Trump: Initiated a directive for the Pentagon and other agencies to release records related to “aliens and extraterrestrial life, unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), and unidentified flying objects (UFOs)” citing high public interest.
  • Representative Tim Burchett (R-TN): A vocal proponent of transparency, Burchett has spearheaded calls for the release of government files, claiming to have seen convincing evidence in briefings that necessitates public disclosure.
  • Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY): Introduced legislation focused on establishing a board to declassify government records regarding UAPs.

Burchett has some interesting comments in the news recently, you can look those up.

It is a bit of a stretch but as you read the article below….it’s not much of a stretch to speculate about aliens (if they exist) that they are just as likely to have approached Joseph Smith, as was God or a god, doing it. Especially, when you read about the planet aspect of Mormonism and all are gods doctrines…Speculation and Imagination can run wild here.

We will have to wait to see if more on this is actually released….

As for myself, I’m going to stick with the Biblical Accounts. And the classical Protestant understanding.

Not some newly revealed understanding of the “Truth Church”.

All this is a good reminder of what Spurgeon on once said:

The ‘Jesus’ of Mormonism à la Glenn Beck
