Not letting the Heart get Divorced from the Mind

Luk 10:26-27 He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou? 27 And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.

I repost Elizabeth Prata’s article not only for my self but for the women who might visit my blog.

In the visible church today, we are heavy on emotionalism. I can hardly think of a church other than the small Reformed Church I’ve been on Sabbatical at that isn’t framed around a heavy dose of CCM emotional/mood inducing praise band songs for 15-20 minutes at the opening of their worship services. This has lead to the presence of a lot of swaying, in the congregation, and what I can charismatic light hand raising which use to be uncommon. If a church is at all self-identified as Evangelical whether in a denomination or non-denominational it will mostly likely use the modern praise songs to bring people to into the worship experience.

It’s interesting to study the methods of Beth Moore. Many years ago when my wife was working through Daniel, I actually listen to her Study on that book, as I recall it did contain some substance of useful Biblical teaching particularly about the time lines Daniel was given. But those were the days when I was drawn into The Purpose Driven Life, The Experiencing God and Richard Foster Disciplines teachings. All those being heavily influenced by those around me in the local church.

Elizabeth’s article contains some good links, I plan to read the one on emotionalism, and listen to the Dr. MLJ sermon she posted links to. Perhaps 🤔 if your reading this you are not where she is. I like the Jeff Bridges meme.
